Today I suddenly got some free time for printing in darkroom. Parcel from "Maco" with 6 kg of paper was waiting for me for more than a week.. As far as I now have only few time for printing I use ready made lith developer by Moersch. By this reason I decided to follow advices given on Moersch website and ordered "Rollei vintage 132", "Adox mcc 110" and Foma "Fomabrom variant IV 123" which I never used before and "Foma Fomatone MG warm tone" which I know quite good.
Lucky me with deciding to start with Rollei )). It was perfect from the very beginning. Tones, grain, speed of lith, everything was great. I got some nice pictures very fast. Then I decided to try Adox.. Everything seems to be great in the beginning, lights and mid-tones were great but then when lith process in shadows had begun it went in a wrong way. All of the picture covered with white dots.
Then I took Foma "fomabrom 123". As it was expected lith on this paper was as always grainy and random with a "charcoal" effect. Developing speed was quite fast, about 6 minutes though. With Foma "fomabrome 112" everything was very similar but too long.. 40 minutes of developing.. Too much for me.
And finally - Foma "fomatone MG warm tone". Great as usual, fast developing, nice grain, rich half-tones, nice toning. Very similar to "Rollei vintage" but a bit softer and "greener".
And by now the conclusion is that whan I need to print something with face and body or perfect details, I have to use Rollei vintage or Fomatone. When I need "texture" and "rough" look or "charcoal" effect, I will use Fomabrom.
